Cheryl Towler Weese

Cheryl is founder and Creative Director of Studio Blue, a Chicago-based studio that works with museums, universities, and other organizations that serve the public. She leads the studio’s design work, guides internal design teams, and is responsible for the studio’s collective design output.

She began her design discipleship at age nine, when she learned to proofread galleys at her parents’ weekly newspaper. A love of culture and language is integral to her design sensibility, and her projects often marry design thinking with the development of visual language.

Cheryl is currently director of graduate studies and Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Design. She has served on the national board of the AIGA, and currently serves as an advisor to AIGA Chicago. She holds a BA in studio art from Wesleyan University, and an MFA from Yale University.
